According to authorities, a fatal attack occurred at around 7:40 P.M. on Saturday, May 10, in Jackson Heights. After investigating what happened, police are disturbed to report that the area where the attack occurred was considered a “blind spot” for locals where criminals were known to commit all kinds of illicit activities over the past several years.
Authorities were first called out to the scene when concerned witnesses spotted the wounded victim attempting to chase after the perpetrator. Witnesses initially didn’t know the man was injured, but they quickly learned how serious the situation was when the man collapsed to the ground.
He was bleeding from the neck. Emergency responders rushed the victim to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment, but he was declared deceased a short time later.
Witnesses report seeing the victim and suspect fleeing out of the “blind spot”. The spot is an area in an alleyway near 34th Ave and 96th St. The spot is covered with scaffolding. Neighbors familiar with the area confirmed that the scaffolding has been up for years, and locals frequently duck in behind the scaffolding to commit illegal acts. Many neighborhood residents told authorities that they feared going into that area, especially at night. Some locals even expressed avoiding the nearby playground due to it being so close to the “blind spot” hangout.
Locals have expressed the desire to have the scaffolding removed, but attempts to contact the Sea Breeze General Construction Inc. company, whose sign is erected near the construction site, have been unsuccessful so far. The scaffolding seems to have initially been put up during renovations to the Corona Health Center. A recent press release regarding the project suggest that it should wrap up in the spring of 2026.
Unfortunately, authorities were not able to identify the suspect responsible for this fatal stabbing yet. An investigation is ongoing.
Homicide in New York
There have only been five months so far in 2025, but there have already been four homicides in Queens’ 115th Precinct. That number marks a massive spike in homicides in the area, considering that there were only four murders in the vicinity in all of 2024.
Like the rest of the country, courts in New York state consider homicide to be the most severe criminal charge, so it makes sense that it carries the heaviest criminal penalty. Brooklyn courts do not uphold the death penalty, since the state abolished that in 2004, so the maximum penalty a person can get in Brooklyn is life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Considering the severity of these types of criminal charges, you need to hire a top-quality attorney if you think you could be implicated in someone’s death.
