Federal court in Brooklyn NY

Recently, on March 21, The Kings County Criminal Bar Association hosted a seminar they called “A State Practitioner’s Guide to Federal Criminal Issues.” The point of the seminar was to help expound on the complexities of federal criminal law for state practitioners. During the meeting, one of the biggest highlights was Brooklyn criminal defense attorneys discussing the various strategies they use to beat federal prosecutors.

The leading speakers included Christopher Wright, former president of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association, Michael Hueston, and Samuel Gregory. While these members facilitated the seminar, the evening was considered a collaborative discussion between the speakers, panelists, and attendees.

Participants discussed federal criminal law, strategies behind plea negotiations, pretrial proceedings, the discovery process, and other aspects that are crucial to the federal criminal pretrial process. Participants also focused on Brooklyn-specific issues, like the most common charges seen in Brooklyn and focusing on drug-related offenses. Members also discussed speedy trial considerations and how they’ve been impacted over the past few years.

According to speakers and attendees, federal court can feel very intimidating even when the attorney is experienced and prepared.

To wrap up the event, members performed a ratification vote that officially swore in new officers and board members. Newly ratified officers include President Darran Winslow, Vice President Arthur Aidala, Vice President Michael Hueston, Vice President Wayne Bodden, Vict President Estelle Roond, Executive Vice President Paul Hirsch, Secretary Alain Messina, and Treasurer Allana Alexander.

Are You Looking for a Criminal Defense Attorney in Brooklyn or a Nearby Area?

Have you recently been accused of a crime in Brooklyn or a nearby area? If so, then you might be looking for the right criminal defense attorney to represent you throughout your case. Depending on your situation, you might need an attorney to represent you in federal court.

To find the right attorney, first make sure the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of charges. If you’re managing federal charges, then make sure your attorney has experience with federal crimes. You’ll also want your attorney to be local. Next, consider checking out the firm’s reputation and effectiveness by looking at their past case results.

These results should give you a general idea of whether or not the attorney will be able to help defend you successfully. Next, check out the firm’s reviews from past clients. If you notice any serious red flags, then it might be best to opt for a different attorney or firm.

Here at Bukh Law, our criminal defense attorneys stay up-to-date with the latest and most effective strategies for defending clients in federal court, but we’re also well prepared to handle local courtrooms, too. The next KCCBA meeting will be held on April 25 and will be presented by Hon. Barry Kamins. We invite you to vet our firm and attorneys, as we’re confident that we’re a great fit for your legal needs.

Schedule a consultation with our office when you’re ready to discuss your situation in more detail with our best criminal defense attorneys in Brooklyn.
